Prosecco

Prosecco is one of the world’s most popular Italian sparkling wines, reflecting a unique region straddling Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia and a winemaking tradition that combines freshness, conviviality and high brand recognition. Produced mainly from Glera grapes, it finds its finest expression in the Prosecco DOC, Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG and Asolo Prosecco DOCG appellations.

Vinification generally takes place using the Martinotti or Charmat method, which preserves the grape variety’s aromatic fragrance whilst enhancing floral aromas, fruity notes and a pleasant lightness on the palate. The finest versions, particularly those from the hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, display greater complexity, minerality and depth thanks to particularly well-suited terroirs.

From the classic Extra Dry to the drier Brut, right through to the most innovative styles and single-vineyard selections, Prosecco is perfect as an aperitif and surprisingly versatile at the table, pairing well with cicchetti, starters, fish, shellfish and Mediterranean cuisine.
