Freisa delle Langhe di Giuseppe Rinaldi: THE WINE

The Freisa delle Langhe di Giuseppe Rinaldi is pure Freisa, a local robust variety much loved by Carlotta and Marta Rinaldi. This vine is the most resistant in its territory to downy mildew and powdery mildew, to esca disease and golden flavescence; in short, it is the most agronomically simple grape to manage; furthermore, the wines that come from it lend themselves well to aging. Despite all this, the tradition of cultivating it has been lost: there are only about 20 hectares of Freisa left in all of the Langhe. It is processed traditionally in various ways, sparkling, refermented, with residual sugar or still and dry; Carlotta and Marta macerate it for a few days, ferment, then refine it in stainless steel for 6 months and another 6 months in wood.

The PLACEHOLDER_WINE is intense ruby red. The nose is imbued with spicy and balsamic notes: pepper, cinnamon, mentholated undergrowth; then it opens up to flowers and fruit: geranium, peony, raspberry, and sour cherry. In the mouth, it has a well-defined tannin, sapidity, and a certain length. A very interesting wine that pairs well with mushrooms, for example, porcini risotto and Brà sausage.
