Gattinara Vigna Valferana di Nervi is born from 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown in the Valferana cru at 320 metres above sea level. The term cru derives from the French and refers to a particular plot, with certain characteristics of microclimate and soil, particularly suited for the cultivation of vines. We are in Upper Piedmont where Nebbiolo locally called Spanna reigns, which here gives life to austere, deep wines with great personality. After fermentation in wood and concrete, the Gattinara Vigna Valferana di Nervi aged for 48 months in oak barrels, followed by 6 months in concrete and a further 6 months in bottle.

Gattinara DOCG Vigna Valferana 2014 by Nervi is presented in the glass of a pale ruby red colour with garnet reflections. On the nose, it is expressed with seductive aromas of ripe red fruits intertwined with clear hints of bitter orange peel and graphite. Notes of balsamic herbs and dark spices complete the olfactory picture. On the palate, it is elegant and intense, supported by a silky tannic texture and an exciting mineral freshness that persists in the long finish. At the table, it goes well with aged cheeses or structured courses based on red meats or game.
