Corpo medioThe Sauvignon Blanc Mathias by Pfitscher comes from the Kathreinefelder vineyard in Fiè allo Sciliar (between the Sciliar plateau and the Isarco Valley), on soils of grey porphyry and limestone dust, at 900 metres above sea level (the highest in the municipality of Fiè). After a maceration of about six hours before pressing, the fermentation takes place for 70% in small oak barrels and for 30% in steel barrels. Ageing takes place on the lees for sixteen months in oak and steel barrels, then for a few months in the bottle. 2017, after a difficult summer, brought an exciting harvest.
Pfitscher's Sauvignon Blanc Mathias has a straw yellow colour; on the nose, it is powerful in the expression of flint, on a fruity and aromatic background of mentholated herbs. In the mouth, it is fresh, savoury and tasty, long and well-balanced. To drink in the company of fragrant marinated anchovies, or with a carpaccio of mullet, or even with grilled eel.
