The Riesling Praepositus of Abbazia di Novacella was produced from 100% Riesling Renano grapes grown in the territory of Varna and Bressanone, in the province of Bolzano. The vineyards of origin, composed of 10-15 year old plants with south, south-west exposure, insist on soils characterised by permeable morainic deposits composed of micascist, paragneiss and quartzite, at an altitude between 650 and 750 metres above sea level. After the harvest, the grapes were sent for vinification, which took place in stainless steel. Before release, Abbazia di Novacella's Riesling Alto Adige DOC Praepositus was aged for 10 months in stainless steel and for 9 months in the bottle. The Praepositus line of Abbazia di Novacella includes wines that come from the company's best vineyards.

The Riesling Praepositus by Abbazia di Novacella is presented with a straw yellow colour with golden reflections. On the nose, it expresses aromas of pineapple, peach and yellow pulp fruit that intertwine with hints of honey and notes of flint. The sip is full and harmonious, supported by a vibrant freshness and a strong minerality that persists in the finish played on fruity hints. At the table, it goes well with fresh and semi-aged cheeses as well as vegetarian dishes and seafood recipes based on white fish, molluscs and crustaceans. Also ideal paired with white meats.
