The Merlot Civitella Rosso di Sergio Mottura by Sergio Mottura comes from 80% Merlot and 20% Montepulciano grapes, sourced from a vineyard called Colle Rosso, located on hilly terrain crossed by gravelly strips. During vinification, the alcoholic fermentation, with maceration of the must in contact with the skins, took place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 28°C. Aging occurred in stainless steel for 6 months plus an additional 2 months in the bottle.
Sergio Mottura's Civitella Rosso appears with an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it reveals aromas of ripe red fruits combined with hints of tobacco, roasted coffee, and licorice notes. The taste is full and enveloping, enhanced by soft tannins and a long spicy finish. It pairs well with hearty meat dishes such as excellent baked cannelloni.
