The Etna Bianco di Planeta, produced in the Etna Feudo di Mezzo winery since 2012, is 100% Nerello Mascalese, from the Pietramarina vineyard in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia. We are over 500 metres above sea level, on black soils due to the lava sands, very rich in minerals. The harvest takes place in the second half of October; the grapes, when necessary, are refreshed before selection and crushing and destemming. The vinification takes place partly in steel vats and partly in wooden vats; the wine is then assembled and matured for 6/8 months, again partly in steel and partly in 50-hectolitre wooden vats.

ETNA ROSSO PLANETA: TASTING

Planeta's Etna Rosso is presented in the glass with a brilliant ruby red. On the nose, it has scents of acid red flowers, wild strawberries, Tarocco orange, Mediterranean aromatic herbs and ash, with a spicy note that subtly looks towards vanilla. In the mouth, it is fresh and tasty, almost succulent, with a refreshing finish on the ferrous and balsamic notes. Excellent slightly refreshed, it goes with great versatility to different dishes, from pasta alla Norma, to Cacciucco, to meatballs up to, more simply, a nice stuffed focaccia.
