Corpo medioThe Etna Bianco Vulkà di Nicosia is one of the three wines that most represent the powerful, vital, and frank character of the volcano for the company. We are in the area of Trecastagni, on the eastern slope of Mount Etna, in Contrada Monte Gorna: the soils are composed of volcanic sands, derived from the breaking down of lava masses, very rich in minerals, located at an altitude ranging from 650 to 750 m above sea level, with significant temperature variations between day and night. The grapes, 60% Carricante and 40% Catarratto, are traditionally harvested in small crates in the second week of October. After a cold maceration of about 24 hours, very gentle pressing, and a long static decantation, the mass ferments slowly at a controlled temperature; then the wine matures on its lees in steel and undergoes an additional 2 months in the bottle.
The Etna Bianco Vulkà di Nicosia has a brilliant straw yellow color; on the nose, intense mineral hints lead to tobacco pouch, pear, citrus fruits, laurel, pine resin, and broom. In the mouth, it is powerfully fresh and savory, with a slightly bitter and refreshing finish. Excellent to start the evening, perhaps accompanied by raw prawns or fried mussels with tzatziki sauce.
