Corpo robustoThe Brunello di Montalcino Petroso - Le Ragnaie originates from one of the oldest historical areas in Montalcino, just outside the town, along the road leading to the Abbey of Sant’Antimo. The name "Petroso" refers to a stony, well-drained soil rich in galestro and limestone, which enhances the concentration, minerality, and vertical character of Sangiovese. The organically farmed vines lie at around 450 meters above sea level, benefiting from a balanced, breezy climate with strong diurnal temperature shifts. Le Ragnaie’s production philosophy remains consistent: spontaneous fermentation, gentle extraction, no use of barriques, and extended aging for over 40 months in large Slavonian oak casks. Petroso is one of the estate’s most traditional and structured interpretations of Brunello, combining power and classicism with elegance and long aging potential. A wine that speaks of Montalcino's historic, austere, and authentic soul.
Bright garnet red in the glass. The nose reveals intense aromas of sour cherry in spirit, dried rose, citrus peel, leather, damp earth, and dark spices. On the palate, it is firm and savory, with dense, ripe tannins, dynamic energy, and vibrant freshness leading to a long, dry, mineral finish. A solid, deep Brunello with a strong territorial character.
