Corpo robustoThe Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Fornace - Le Ragnaie is one of the most iconic labels from Riccardo Campinoti, winemaker and owner of Le Ragnaie estate. Located in the north-eastern area of Montalcino, the Fornace vineyard stands out for its altitude (about 400 meters above sea level), favorable exposure, and soils rich in galestro and alberese, which enhance the elegance and depth of Sangiovese. The production philosophy focuses on organic practices in the vineyard and minimal intervention in the cellar, with long fermentations and slow aging processes that fully respect the identity of the terroir. Fornace is one of the estate's most expressive crus, offering an intense yet refined interpretation of Brunello, with remarkable aging potential. Spontaneously fermented in truncated cone vats and aged for over 40 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, this wine represents the perfect balance of power, finesse, and longevity.
In the glass, it shows a bright garnet red color. The nose reveals a layered and complex bouquet: ripe cherry, plum, and blood orange blend with hints of medicinal herbs, leather, sweet spices, and tobacco. The palate is enveloping, with fine yet present tannins supported by vibrant freshness. The finish is long and savory, marked by elegant balsamic and fruity echoes. A deep, harmonious wine with extraordinary personality.
