The Brunello CastelGiocondo di Frescobaldi is produced by the homonymous estate, benefiting from a wide and fortunate variety of exposures and soils (galestro, clays, and Pliocene sands) to the west of the town of Ilcinese. The grapes are hand-harvested and meticulously selected. Fermentations take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with frequent pumpovers, especially during the initial stages. The wine is then aged in wood, partly in barriques and partly in large barrels.
The Brunello Castelgiocondo reflects the balance of the great vintage. It appears in the glass with a bright ruby color; the nose is rich, with hints of cherries and sour cherries in alcohol, cinnamon, mace, tea leaves, menthol balms, tobacco, and smoky notes; on the palate, it is enveloping, with a present but subtle tannin, a certain savoriness, a beautiful freshness, and a fragrant length of orange. Perfect to accompany a succulent mixed grilled meat or a duck risotto.
Grigliata mista di carne; risotto all'anatra.
