Fine WineThe Sassicaia Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC 2016 di Tenuta San GuidoSassicaia Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC of Tenuta San Guido is obtained from Cabernet Sauvignon (85%) and Cabernet Franc (15%) grapes grown in the prestigious DOC of the same name located within the estate of Tenuta San Guido, situated in the Bolgheri territory (LI). The original vineyards are situated on calcareous soils rich in galestro, stones and rocks (which give the wine its name) and partly clayey, at an altitude ranging from 100 to 300 meters above sea level. For this red masterpiece, alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature between 28° and 30°C without the addition of external yeasts. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred to French oak barriques (1/3 new wood and the rest first and second passage) where it matures for 24 months, keeping the batches separate based on vineyard of origin. The blending is only done close to bottling. Before being released to the market, Sassicaia rests in the bottle for a certain period of time. This is the latest vintage of this legendary red wine, among the most acclaimed in the world, officially born in 1968 from the desire of Marquis Mario Incisa Della Rocchetta to create a "noble wine" inspired by the great wines of Bordeaux.
The Sassicaia Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC di Tenuta San Guido captivates the sight with its intense ruby red color. On the nose, it releases enveloping aromas of cherry, black cherry, and small wild berries intertwined with hints of Mediterranean scrubland and more evolved notes of chocolate and toasted dried fruit. On the palate, it expresses a full and elegant taste with smooth tannins and well-integrated acidity. The long and deep finish reveals a clearer mineral texture. Exciting persistence. It pairs well with cured meats and aged cheeses, as well as first and second courses of red meats and game from the land.
