Francia 2022 is made from 100% Nebbiolo grown in the Francia vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba, one of the key crus in the modern history of Giacomo Conterno. In the 3-litre Double Magnum format it retains the classic character of the wine, shaped by Serralunga's structure and precise fruit.

The Francia cru in large format

Winemaking follows the estate's traditional approach, with extended maceration and prolonged maturation in large oak casks. Ageing reaches around 48 months in large casks, keeping the oak firmly in support of the wine rather than in the foreground.

The 2022 vintage

The profile combines red fruit and floral nuances with balsamic notes, liquorice, aromatic herbs and spice. The palate is deep and structured, with dense tannins, persistent acidity and a savoury finish. James Suckling awarded 98/100; Vinous rated it 95+/100 and Jeb Dunnuck 96/100.

A collectible Double Magnum

The 3-litre format further enhances the wine's potential for slow development and makes it particularly suited to cellaring and important occasions. Release is expected in autumn 2026; serve at 16-18 °C with red meats, game and mature cheeses.
