Francia 2022 is made from 100% Nebbiolo grown in the Francia vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba, the cru acquired by the Conterno family in 1974 and now central to the estate's identity. It is a Barolo shaped by precise fruit, the firm structure of Serralunga and a resolutely traditional interpretation of place.

Winemaking follows the estate's classical approach, with extended maceration and prolonged maturation in large oak casks. For this wine, ageing reaches around 48 months in large casks, without a style driven by new oak.

The 2022 vintage

The vintage combines red fruit and floral notes with liquorice, aromatic herbs, spice and mineral nuances. The palate is deep yet controlled, with dense fine-grained tannins, persistent acidity and a savoury finish built for long development. James Suckling awarded 98/100, while Wine Advocate rated it 96/100 and Vinous 95+/100.

A Barolo for the cellar

The international release is expected in autumn 2026 and the wine is already regarded as suitable for extended bottle ageing. Its structure and precision make the 2022 a collectible release, also well suited to red meats, game and mature cheeses.
