Arione 2022 is made from 100% Nebbiolo grown in the Arione cru in Serralunga d'Alba, acquired by Giacomo Conterno in 2015. It is a Barolo that highlights the mineral and savoury character of this part of Serralunga, with substantial structure, firm tannins and a strong sense of place.

Winemaking follows the estate's traditional approach, with extended maceration followed by maturation in large oak casks. The oak remains in the background, allowing Nebbiolo and the identity of the cru to stay at the centre of the wine.

The 2022 vintage

Dried violet, cherry and pomegranate are joined by aromatic herbs, liquorice, graphite, menthol and white pepper. The palate is full, taut and savoury, with dusty tannins and a persistent finish. James Suckling, Wine Advocate and Vinous all awarded the 2022 vintage 95/100.

A Barolo for long ageing

Release is expected in autumn 2026. Its structure and concentration make it well suited to extended bottle ageing; serve at 16-18 °C with red meats, roasts and mature cheeses.
