Corpo medioLa Bogliona 1996 by Scarpa is a refined Piedmontese Barbera from one of the historic winery's most distinctive labels. A red wine built for long ageing, it expresses the depth, freshness and remarkable longevity that have made this cru a reference point for structured Barbera from Asti.
The Barbera grapes come from the Acqui Terme area, from vineyards located at around 400 metres above sea level, on medium clay soils with sandy veins. Vinification includes skin maceration in wooden vats, followed by extended ageing in French Allier oak barrels, a traditional approach designed to preserve structure, elegance and ageing potential.
In the glass, it shows a mature and complex profile, with evolved dark fruit notes of blackberry, plum, cherry and raspberry, enriched by nuances of leather, forest floor and subtle mineral hints. The palate is full-bodied, fresh and persistent, with mature tannins and a long, deep and harmonious finish.
An excellent match for rich Piedmontese cuisine, agnolotti with roast sauce, mixed boiled meats, braised dishes, roasted meats, osso buco, medium-aged cheeses and intense, savoury recipes. For a historic vintage such as 1996, we recommend standing the bottle upright before serving and opening it with particular care.
