Tignanello  di AntinoriTignanello  by Antinori comes from the vineyard of the same name located within the historic Tenuta Tignanello in San Casciano in Val di Pesa (FI). The soils here are limestone in nature enriched with tufaceous elements and are situated at an altitude ranging from 350 to 400 meters above sea level. The blend composition has remained unchanged since 1982: Sangiovese with a small portion of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The aging process took place for 14-16 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels, some new and some second passage, followed by an additional 12 months of bottle aging. We are faced with a legendary wine that should not be missing from the cellar of any connoisseur. Indeed, Tignanello, besides enjoying international fame, holds a series of important records: it was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, as well as the first modern red to be blended with non-traditional grape varieties such as Cabernets. Finally, it was among the first red wines of Chianti Classico not to include the use of white grapes. It is only produced in the best vintages.

TIGNANELLO ANTINORI: TASTING NOTES

Antinori's Tignanello presents an intense ruby red color. On the nose, clear scents of Morello cherries and small wild berries emerge, combined with balsamic hints of mint and notes of chocolate and dark spices. The palate is harmonious and supported by a polished tannic structure that blends with well-integrated freshness and an elegant minerality that lingers in the long finish. When paired with food, Tignanello goes well with cured meats, aged cheeses as well as flavorful dishes of red meats and game.
