The Sensazione di Lava 2022 by Azienda Agricola SCIARA is a red wine from Etna, Sicily, made from a blend of 60% Nerello Mascalese and 40% Grenache. It comes from vines between fifty and over eighty years old, with an average age of around 75 years, grown between 930 and 960 metres above sea level in the Tartaraci and Nave contrade, on soils of volcanic ash, rocks and sand. The vineyard is farmed under certified organic practices.

Vinification is carried out with spontaneous fermentation and indigenous yeasts for about twelve days, following a low-intervention approach. The wine is then aged for nineteen months in fibreglass containers, in order to preserve the purity of the fruit and the identity of its volcanic terroir. The wine is unfined and unfiltered, has low sulphite levels of around 30 mg/L, is suitable for vegans and vegetarians, and is produced in an extremely limited quantity of just 330 bottles. Alcohol content is 13%, with residual sugar below 1 g/L.

Thanks to its structure and personality, it pairs beautifully with flavourful Italian dishes such as amatriciana, meatballs, risotto romanza, and Parmigiana di melanzane.
