Corpo medioTiefenbrunner's Gewürztraminer Merus is part of the Classic Merus line: the Latin term merus (pure) refers to the frank expression of the grape's character. The grapes, which come from vineyards in the Bassa Atesina, are vinified in concrete or steel vats. The wines thus obtained are bottled young and fresh. Sauvignon, in particular, is produced with grapes from the south-southwest facing slopes of Cortaccia, Penone and Niclara (290-500m asl), on soils composed of calcareous gravel of morainic sediments. Fermentation is carried out in steel at a controlled temperature, followed by ageing for 4 months on fine lees in cement vats.
Tiefenbrunner's Sauvignon Merus is presented in the glass with a bright straw colour with greenish reflections. The nose is intense, with notes of elderflower, sage, mint, pear, cedar and white pepper. In the mouth, it is fresh and savoury, with a balsamic extension. A wine very suitable to accompany vegetable-based dishes, such as seafood dishes, it is very good with asparagus and brie omelette, or with salmon tartare with mint.
