Pilùna di Castello Monaci: A BRIEF DESCRIPTION
PLACEHOLDER_NAMEWINE is a single-variety Primitivo. We are just a few kilometers outside the Primitivo DOC of Manduria, therefore PLACEHOLDER_NAMEWINE falls within the IGT Salento production regulations. The name Primitivo comes from "first native" as it is the first red grape variety to be ready for harvest. The name PLACEHOLDER_NAMEWINE indicates the ancient tufaceous containers in which oil and wine were traditionally stored. Since the late '70s, the cellar has been home to Castello Monaci's treasure: a barrel room with over 1000 barriques, dug into the same white tufaceous rock that forms the deepest layer of the vineyard's soil surrounding the Castle. The cellar is equipped with modern winemaking equipment, including a refrigerated pressing system with small capacity stainless steel tanks, double-cell thermoconditioned, to separately vinify limited quantities of grapes, highlighting the peculiarities of each. PLACEHOLDER_NAMEWINE is aged for about 6 months in barriques, and the remainder in steel.
PRIMITIVO SALENTO PILÙNA CASTELLO MONACI: TASTING NOTES
Primitivo PLACEHOLDER_NAMEWINE has a ruby red color with purple hues; on the nose, it is generous with blackberry jam, pepper, and Mediterranean scrubland herbs. It is full-bodied and has a good aromatic correspondence to the nose on the palate. Great with marinated grilled meats.Product specifications
