The Pinot Nero di San Michele Appiano was obtained from 100% Pinot Nero grapes grown in the territories of Caldaro and Appiano, in the province of Bolzano. The vineyards of origin include vines from 5 to 25 years of age with southern, south-east and south-west exposure, and insist on moraine deposits and gravelly-calcareous soils, at an altitude between 400 and 550 metres above sea level. After the harvest by hand, carried out in the first half of September, the grapes were sent for vinification which included a phase of alcoholic fermentation in steel. Before bottling, the Pinot Nero Alto Adige DOC 2018 by San Michele Appiano was aged for 4-6 months in large barrels.

PINOT NERO SAN MICHELE APPIANO: TASTING

The Pinot Noir of San Michele Appiano is proposed in the glass with a light garnet red colour. On the nose, it releases aromas of blackberries, raspberries and small berries that intertwine with floral hints of violet and docile notes of oriental spices. The taste is harmonious and elegant, supported by lively but well-integrated tannins and a gentle fresh-savoury trail that persists in the finish. At the table, it goes well with aged cheeses and recipes based on red meats or game.
