Corpo medioThe Petit Verdot di Casale del Giglio is a true rarity at a national level. This grape variety comes from Bordeaux, where it is traditionally used as a minor component in the blending of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a late-ripening variety that has found ideal conditions in Agro Pontino, such as great brightness, persistent ventilation, and warm soils that allow the full ripening of the grapes. The winemaking process aims at extracting color and soft tannins; it follows malolactic fermentation, carried out partly in steel, partly in wood. The aging process then continues for 8-12 months in barrels and the following 6 months in the bottle.
The Petit Verdot di Casale del Giglio shows in the glass an intense ruby color, with violet hues. On the nose, it is rich in ripe red fruit and balsamic herbaceous notes of juniper and myrtle. In the mouth, it has structure and softness, with polished tannins and hints of spices, pepper, and balsamic notes. Perfect to pair with local roast lamb.
