Corpo robustoThe Merlot Casalferro di Ricasoli 1141 is a wine of consolidated fame. The vineyards lie on two geological formations: Macigno del Chianti (sandstones) and Monte Morello (alberese). Vigna Sodacci, 500 meters above sea level, has soil characterized by the presence of sand and stones (sandstones), well-drained and low in organic matter; Vigna Pecchierino, 400 meters above sea level, has clayey limestone soil (alberese), very rocky, rich in calcium carbonate and clay, and low in organic matter; Vigna Casalferro, at 400 meters above sea level, finally has soils characterized by the coexistence of sandstones and alberese. The grapes are harvested in mid-September, respecting the timing of each vineyard. Fermentation is carried out with temperature control and macerations of 14-18 days, then the wine ages for 18 months in tonneaux, 30% new.
The Merlot Casalferro di Ricasoli 1141Merlot Casalferro by Ricasoli is bright ruby. On the nose, it combines the black cherry fruit and blueberry syrup with bay leaf and mint balsamic notes, wisteria and lavender flowers with spices of pepper, cinnamon, and star anise, emphasizing Tuscanity with mineral hints and brine olives. In the mouth, it has great elegance, with restrained alcohol content, integrated tannins, and a vibrant saline matrix. Excellent with pulled pork.
