Le Pergole Torte is one of the emblematic wines of Tuscany’s most rigorous and identity-driven tradition, a pure Sangiovese born from a parcel of about 2.5 hectares within the estate’s total 18 hectares. Its story begins in the vineyard, where an extremely strict grape selection is carried out, with low yields and an almost obsessive focus on fruit quality. Vinification follows a classic, respectful approach to the raw material, with alcoholic fermentation followed by malolactic fermentation in concrete vats, a choice that preserves the expressive integrity of Sangiovese without aromatic interference. The long ageing period is a key element of the wine’s identity: twelve months in Slavonian oak casks, followed by a further twelve months in barriques, before a final six-month rest in bottle. A patient journey that guides the wine toward harmonious and profound maturity, resulting in a Toscana Rosso of great stylistic precision, capable of combining austerity, elegance, and an aristocratic structure that never sacrifices finesse.

Le Pergole Torte: tasting notes

In the glass it shows an intense, luminous ruby red color, with a noble and compact hue. The bouquet is broad and layered, dominated by ripe red fruit, noble spices, cocoa, and coffee, supported by a refined mineral backbone and elegant hints of graphite. On the palate, the sip is deep and measured, with very fine tannins, a refined structure, and a long, coherent progression leading to a persistent, beautifully balanced finish.
