Aroma fruttato
Corpo medioLivio Felluga's Merlot is an excellent test of how this grape originating from the wine-growing region of Bordeaux can express the Friulian territory. The soils where the vineyards are situated are typical of the area, Flysch of marl and sandstone of Eocene origin, also called "Ponca", the evident trace of the ancient presence of the sea; With a high wine-growing vocation, this land is particularly subject to erosion phenomena, so much so that to plant the vines on the hills or ronchi, these have often had to be terraced, thus giving the landscape its characteristic appearance. The harvest takes place in the second half of September; the grapes are delicately de-stemmed and pressed, fermentation then takes place with maceration of the skins at a controlled temperature, in stainless steel containers with frequent pumping over to extract colours and aromas from the skins. The ageing lasts twelve months in small French oak barrels; the wine is then further refined in the bottle for about 4 months.
Livio Felluga's Merlot is ruby red with garnet reflections; the nose opens on flowers, with beautiful notes of violet, primrose, lavender and peony, enriched by fruity notes of raspberry, wild strawberries, cherry, and delicate sweet spice. The sip has balance, refined tannins and good freshness. Excellent pairing with pork stew.
