The Poggio alle Nane of Le Mortelle was obtained from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc grapes with a small percentage of Carménére raised in the Poggio alle Nane area, the most suitable of the Le Mortelle farm located in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma. After the harvest by hand, the grapes were further selected and sent for vinification which included a phase of alcoholic fermentation in conical stainless steel vats with maceration of the must in contact with the skins which lasted for about 20 days at a controlled temperature of 28° C. Before bottling, Le Mortelle's Poggio alle Nane was aged for 16 months in French oak barrels.

POGGIO ALLE NANE LE MORTELLE: TASTING

The Maremma Toscana Poggio alle Nane by Le Mortelle is presented in the glass of a seductive intense ruby red colour. On the nose, it expresses aromas of blackberry and small berries that intertwine with balsamic hints of eucalyptus and notes of tobacco, liquorice and dark oriental spices. The sip is soft and deep, enhanced by a smooth tannic texture and a gentle fresh-savoury trail that persists in the long spicy finish. At the table, it goes well with aged cheeses as well as with succulent recipes based on red meats and game.
