Filosofia BIODINAMICO
Corpo robustoMichele Satta's Syrah is an important wine both for his company and for his own personal idea of Bolgheri. He decided back in 1991 to plant Syrah for two reasons: he wanted to further represent the aromatic complexity of the Mediterranean territory, and he also wanted to follow his personal passion for the great wines of the Rhone. Michele waited until the vineyards were more than 15 years old in order to develop the great character of this grape. The harvest takes place in mid-September and the hand-picked, carefully-selected grapes are left to ferment spontaneously in 30 hl oak barrels. Manual punching down is carried out to remix the cap, as well as an open pumping over if needed. The moment of the harvest is chosen very precisely, and great attention is paid to the duration of maceration so as to extract soft tannins in a balanced way and enhance the aromatic richness. The malolactic fermentation is normally carried out in November, after which the wine ages 18 months in second, third, and fourth passage barriques and at least one year in the bottle.
Michele Satta's Syrah is ruby red. The nose has intriguing aromas of blackberry, blueberry, cassis, Sichuan pepper, rosemary, graphite, and hints of tobacco and cocoa. In the mouth it has powerful tannins that are tamed by alcoholic generosity and soft fruit flavor; the finish is spicy and long. Perfect with roasted lamb.
