Corpo medioThe Lagrein by Franz Haas is one of the wines that wear the labels of the artist Schweizer. This grape grows in sunny areas at an altitude ranging between 220 and 250 metres. The warm and deep soil is of alluvial origin, with a high percentage of gravel and is exposed to the south and southwest. Thanks to this microclimatic condition, Lagrein, as a late variety, reaches its full ripeness. The grapes, after careful selection in the vineyard, are delicately de-stemmed and fermented in open vats. To avoid the excessive extraction of tannins, during the vinification there are not too many pumping over and punching down. At the end of the fermentation the wine is decanted into tonneau where the malolactic fermentation takes place and maturation for 10-12 months. Finally, a few months of bottle ageing follows.
The Lagrein by Franz Haas shows a deep and intense red colour that in some years touches purple notes. Its bouquet is very intense and ample, from ripe red fruits to violets, from spicy notes to fresh grass and cocoa, with characteristic lactic hints of blueberry yogurt. On the palate, it has solid and velvety tannins, pleasant fullness and a long, enveloping and full of fruit finish. Very good with traditional South Tyrolean dishes, such as Goulash.
