Corpo medioGrüner Veltliner 2025 from Cantina Valle Isarco presents a distinctive side of South Tyrol’s white wines. Originally from Austria, Grüner Veltliner is grown in this Italian region mainly in the Eisack Valley. Here it offers fresh fruit, a delicate spicy character and invigorating acidity. It is a compelling alternative for those looking beyond the region’s more familiar white grape varieties.
The grapes grow at 500–800 metres above sea level on gravelly, stony alluvial soils containing diorite and quartz phyllite. The winery highlights the deeper, more fertile and warmer sites favoured by Grüner Veltliner. The wine carries the Alto Adige Valle Isarco DOC designation, linking the variety to its South Tyrolean growing area.
The grapes are handled and crushed gently before temperature-controlled fermentation. The wine subsequently matures on its fine lees in stainless-steel tanks, without malolactic fermentation. With no oak ageing, this approach keeps the focus on the variety’s fresh fruit expression and naturally lively acidity.
Its colour ranges from greenish to pale yellow. The bouquet is fresh and fruity, recalling green apples, while the palate combines a pleasant spicy note with vibrant acidity. It makes a versatile match for poached or grilled fish, white meats and soft cheeses. In a 750 ml bottle, this wine is an approachable introduction to a less common white variety of the Alto Adige region.
