Corpo robustoThe Flaccianello di Fontodi was obtained from 100% Sangiovese grapes grown in the territory of Panzano in Chianti, a hamlet of Greve in Chianti, in the province of Florence. For this proud Tuscan red, alcoholic fermentation spontaneously began in stainless steel tanks, through the action of indigenous yeasts, and included a must maceration phase in contact with the skins for 21 days. The malolactic fermentation, which softened the aromatic and structural edges of the wine, took place instead in wood. Before being marketed, the Flaccianello di Fontodi extrapolated from Pieve Colli della Toscana Centrale Rosso di Fontodi was aged for 24 months in Troncais and Alliers barriques and for a further 10 months in the bottle.
The Flaccianello di Fontodi extrapolated from Pieve di Fontodi presents itself to the eye with an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it expresses aromas of cherry and ripe red fruit that blend with hints of cloves, oriental spices, and shy notes of graphite. The palate is balanced and elegant, supported by a fine and smooth tannic texture and a gentle freshness that combines with an exciting minerality that lingers in the long finish. At the table, it pairs well with aged cheeses as well as structured meat dishes based on red meats or game.
