Corpo medioThe Fiano JQN 203 Piante a Lapio di Joaquin is a highly interesting and rare expression of this grape variety. It comes from centuries-old ungrafted plants which Raffaele Pagano, supported by two great experts, Sergio Romano and Maurizio De Simone, has restored value and vitality to. We are on clay and limestone rocks in the Lapio area, over 500 meters above sea level, considered one of the most renowned and historic areas of all Irpinia. The grapes are handpicked with careful selection, destemmed and gently pressed; the free-run juice ferments in special 500-liter second-pass chestnut barrels, specifically built for the cellar with a dense wood that greatly reduces oxidative processes. The finished wine matures in the same barrels for several months before being bottled.
The Fiano JQN 203 Piante a Lapio di Joaquin presents itself with an intense and brilliant golden color. On the nose, it is rich and deep, with spicy notes of smoked white pepper, camphor, sandalwood, and hints of broom and rose tea, from beach honey to Mediterranean scrub herbs, from citrus to toasted hazelnuts. Intriguing, elegant, and well-balanced on the palate, fresh, savory, and remarkably long. Enjoy it today or wait a few more years to fully appreciate the potential of the grape variety and the region. Excellent pairing with oven-baked turbot.
