Aroma fruttato
Corpo medioThe Chianti Superiore by Banfi is made from Sangiovese grapes with a small percentage (10%) of other varieties typically grown in Tuscany, such as the non-native Cabernet Sauvignon and the native Canaiolo Nero. After alcoholic fermentation and maceration on the skins at a temperature between 25° and 30°C, malolactic fermentation took place, which is necessary to make the wine softer in structure and aromas. Before being marketed, the 2016 Chianti Superiore by Banfi rested for several months in French oak barriques. The DOCG Chianti Superiore designation was established in 2011. The additional mention "Superiore" was introduced in 1996 and refers to stricter regulations compared to those of Chianti DOC wines.
The 2016 Chianti Superiore DOCG by Banfi appears in the glass with an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it expresses aromas of morello cherry, plum, and small red fruits in jam intertwined with hints of dark spices. On the palate, it is soft and balanced with smooth tannins and a delicate fresh-savory note that lingers on the finish. Excellent as an all-meal wine, it pairs well with cured meats, semi-aged cheeses, and first and second courses of red meat and game.
