Corpo robustoThe Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG Riserva Ducale Oro by Ruffino was born from a blend of Sangiovese (80%), Merlot (10%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) grapes grown on the company estates of Gretole and Santedame, in one of the areas most prestigious of the Chianti Classico, the Conca d'Oro, at an altitude between 350 and 470 metres above sea level. The alcoholic fermentation took place in steel vats and concrete tanks at an average temperature of 28° C, with a post-fermentation maceration of about 10 days. Ageing took place for 36 months in steel and concrete tanks, followed by 12 months in oak barriques and a further 6 months in the bottle. The Riserva Ducale Oro is produced by Ruffino only in extraordinary years.
Ruffino's Riserva Ducale Oro announces itself in the glass with a ruby red colour with garnet reflections. On the nose, it reveals aromas of plum and ripe red fruit intertwined with timid hints of violets and notes of dark and sweet spices. The sip is soft and powerful, enhanced by a smooth tannic texture and a subtle fresh-savoury trail that slides into the long finish played on fruity and spicy notes. Ideal to accompany important dishes based on red meats and game, it also goes well with cured meats and aged cheeses.
