The Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo Villa Gemma di Masciarelli was produced from 100 Montepulciano grapes grown in the municipalities of San Martino and Santa Marruccina, in the province of Chieti. The vineyards, trained to the Abruzzo pergola system, are rooted in clayey and moderately calcareous soils, at an altitude of approximately 400 meters above sea level. After the harvest, carried out with a yield of 90 quintals per hectare, the grapes were subjected to crushing and destemming to obtain the must. Alcoholic fermentation took place at a controlled temperature with maceration of the must on the skins for 24 hours. The aging lasted 5 months in contact with the fine lees.
The Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Villa Gemma by Masciarelli presents a pale pink color with bright reflections. On the nose, it displays aromas of cherry, wild cherry, and small red fruits, followed by floral hints of rose and violet, and subtle citrusy notes. The taste is fresh and savory with a distinctly fruity flavor. It pairs well with cured meats and cheeses, as well as light land and sea dishes, especially those with a tomato base. Try it with Mediterranean-style red tuna tartare.
