The Centenario 2022 by Azienda Agricola SCIARA is a red wine made from 100% Nerello Mascalese. It comes from vines over 100 years old, grown on soils of sand with a predominance of volcanic rock at altitudes ranging from 630 to 1200 metres, in the contrade of Barbabecchi, Feudo di Mezzo, and Nave. It is a wine shaped by an extreme and deeply distinctive environment, where vine age, altitude, and volcanic origin all contribute to defining its character.

Vinification is carried out with spontaneous fermentations and indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for nineteen months in terracotta vessels and glass containers, with the aim of preserving expressive purity, aromatic precision, and palate tension. Total production is just 896 bottles.

Poured into a large glass, Centenario 2022 reveals an engaging and profound aromatic profile. The bouquet unfolds with notes of red fruits, strawberry, and blood orange, followed by hints of bramble, tobacco, rock, and moss. On the palate, the wine shows intensity and good concentration. Its elegance is subtle yet persistent, supported by a sip that remains consistently fresh and balanced. Flavours of red fruits and dried herbs return on the finish, closing with a seductive earthy sensation. At the table, it pairs beautifully with truffle pasta, roast pork shank, and suckling pig.
