Corpo robustoThe Brunello di Montalcino Riserva di Val di Suga is the balanced union of the expression of the three company vineyards, Vigna del Lago, Vigna Spuntali and Poggio al Granchio. The first, surrounding the company, is located at about 280 metres above sea level, with north-west exposure, on clayey soil, with a microclimate mitigated by the small lake; from here are born fine wines, discharged in colour, with citrus notes, chinotto and spices. Spuntali is near Sant'Angelo in Colle, at 300 metres above sea level, facing south-west, on limestone-clayey soil, with a microclimate influenced by the sea and great ventilation; The Brunello from this vineyard is robust, with sweet tannins and a rich bouquet ranging from candied fruit to spices and finally to tobacco and chocolate. Poggio al Granchio is close to the Abbey of Sant'Antimo, between 320 and 380 metres above sea level, facing south-east, on medium-textured soil with lots of skeleton, with a warmer and less rainy microclimate; here the wines acquire acidity, flavour and fruit. Brunello di Montalcino Riserva ages in 50 hl Slavonian oak barrels for 24 months and 6 months in concrete tanks. It completes its maturation with at least 30 months of refinement in the bottle.
The Riserva from Val di Suga is ruby red with garnet reflections. On the nose, it is dominated by balsamic and leather notes on a fruit substrate. The body has structure and elegance. Excellent with pork belly cooked at low temperature and a cream of wild herbs.
