The Brunello di Montalcino di Casisano is born from vineyards surrounded by ancient woods, at 480 meters above sea level, on the hills southeast of Montalcino. We are facing Sant'Angelo in Colle and the Abbey of Sant'Antimo, towards Mount Amiata, an extinct volcano, a sacred place for the ancient Etruscans. The soil is a mosaic of galestro, sandstone rocks, marl, and volcanic tufa. The climate benefits from Mediterranean breezes, remaining well-ventilated and dry with optimal diurnal temperature variations that safeguard the healthiness of the plants. The grapes are selected from various plots among the 9 hectares registered in the Albo of the Brunello di Montalcino di CasisanoBrunello di Montalcino. The winemaking follows the traditional process, with maceration on the skins for about 25 days, aging for 3 years in Slavonian oak barrels with a maximum capacity of 60 hl, and refinement in the bottle for a minimum of 6 months.
The Brunello di Montalcino of Podere Casisano is ruby tending towards garnet. On the nose, cherry dominates, followed by raspberry and blackberry, then notes of undergrowth, tobacco leaves, and hints of ripe red orange emerge. The sip is warm and enveloping, balanced and with already well-integrated tannins. Very good paired with seared pork tenderloin with mustard.
