The Nikka Coffey Grain is an excellent whisky, primarily produced from corn, using a continuous distillation method using a Coffey Still column installed at the Miyagikyo distillery in 1963. Distillation in this type of column gives us a powerful and very aromatic base distillate. The Nikka Coffey Grain is bottled after aging in refurbished bourbon barrels. Since no age is indicated on the label, we define it as a Non-Age Statement.

Tasting Notes

The Nikka Coffey Grain has a deep straw yellow color with golden reflections. On the nose, there are notes of tropical fruit, coconut, and banana, along with vanilla, cooked pear, caramel, and hazelnut. The taste is smooth, welcoming, and gentle, with numerous fruity hints of grapefruit and melon, a present but perfectly integrated alcohol note leading to a long-lasting cookie and spice finish. In the mouth, it is soft, velvety, with evident hints of cocoa and candied fruit, until the persistent finish. Try it in a classic whisky cocktail: Old Fashioned, in this case, Japanese-style.
