Corpo medioThe Vermentino Spera di SiddùraVermentino Spera from the Siddùra winery embodies an important meaning: Spera in Gallurese means "bundle of light." This award-winning Vermentino comes from vineyards at about 250 meters above sea level; Siddùra's vineyards are a mixture of granite, sand, and clay soils. These loose, often arid soils are ideal for viticulture. In these conditions, the vines sink their roots deep in search of water and do not waste energy on excessive vegetation, but preserve and concentrate it for the fruit. The good temperature fluctuations, the ventilated climate, and the excellent sunlight exposure of the gentle slopes then allow for the natural healthiness of the plants. The grapes are hand-harvested in small baskets; after gentle pressing, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, slowly. Aging is always carried out in steel, on the lees.
The Vermentino di Gallura Spera from the Siddùra winery is lively straw-yellow, with greenish reflections. On the nose, it smells of the sea, Mediterranean scrubland, yellow melon, sage, oregano, and hints of mace. In the mouth, it is salty, broad and slender at the same time, rich in fruit with a slightly bitter finish. A truly interesting and territorial wine, it pairs fantastically with linguine with sea urchins.
