Fine WineSome rosés are designed chiefly for easy drinking; others speak of their origins with the complexity of a serious wine. Valentini Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo belongs to the latter tradition. Made from Montepulciano grapes in the hills of Loreto Aprutino, inland from Pescara, it combines freshness, expressive red fruit and an assured structure. The 2025 vintage offers an opportunity to discover one of Abruzzo’s most individual interpretations of rosé.
The name Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo DOC refers to its cherry-like colour. More deeply coloured than many pale rosés, this style retains a distinctive presence at the table. The Valentini family works with 100% Montepulciano, revealing a combination of red-fruit and floral notes, lively freshness and a lingering, finely balanced finish.
Generations of the Valentini family have been closely connected to Abruzzo’s agricultural landscape. Their approach places emphasis on careful fruit selection, patient cellar work and traditional methods with minimal intervention. Spontaneous fermentation and large oak casks are part of the estate’s philosophy, allowing the wine to develop without conspicuous toasted-oak flavours. The result is a rosé with an identity of its own, rather than a merely seasonal style.
Its deep cherry-pink hue introduces notes of cherry and small red berries, subtle floral nuances and a fresh, savoury palate. Its substance and persistence make it a natural companion to cured meats, flavourful pasta dishes, white meats and traditional Abruzzese cooking. An inspired choice for those seeking a rosé with character, poise and an authentic connection to Montepulciano.
Presented in a 750 ml bottle, this sought-after artisanal wine is particularly appealing for a special occasion or for exploring one of Italy’s most distinctive wine estates.
