Mezza_bottigliaAntinori's Half Bottle Tignanello comes from the vineyard of the same name located in the historic Tenuta Tignanello in San Casciano in Val di Pesa (FI). Here, the soils are of a limestone nature enriched with tuffaceous elements and are located at an altitude between 350 and 400 metres above sea level. The composition of the blend has remained unchanged since 1982: Sangiovese with a small part of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Ageing takes place for 14-16 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels, partly new and partly on their second use, with a further 12 months of maturing in the bottle. This is a legendary wine that cannot be missing in any connoisseur's cellar. In addition to enjoying international fame, Tignanello holds a series of important records: it was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, as well as the first modern red to be blended with non-traditional vines such as Cabernet. Lastly, it was among the first reds of Chianti Classico not to include the use of white grapes. It is produced only in the best years.
Tignanello di Antinori boasts an intense ruby red colour. On the nose, clear aromas of morello cherry and small wild berries emerge that combine with balsamic hints of mint and notes of chocolate and dark spices. On the palate, it is harmonious and supported by a smooth tannic texture that unites a well-integrated freshness and an elegant minerality that persists in the long finish. At the table, it pairs with cured meats and seasoned cheeses as well as tasty recipes based on red meats or game.
