The Tignanello di Antinori by Antinori is born from the vineyard of the same name located within the historic Tenuta Tignanello in San Casciano in Val di Pesa (FI). Here, the soils are of a limestone nature enriched with tufaceous elements and are situated at an altitude between 350 and 400 meters above sea level. The blend composition has remained unchanged since 1982: Sangiovese with a small portion of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The aging process took place for 14-16 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels, partly new and partly second passage, with an additional 12 months of bottle aging. We are in the presence of a legendary wine that should not be missing in the cellar of any connoisseur. Tignanello, in fact, in addition to enjoying international fame, holds a series of important records: it was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, as well as the first modern red wine to be blended with non-traditional grape varieties such as Cabernets. Finally, it was among the first red wines of Chianti Classico not to include the use of white grapes. It is produced only in the best vintages.
Antinori's Tignanello presents itself with an intense ruby red color. On the nose, clear scents of marasca cherries and small wild berries emerge, combining with balsamic hints of mint, notes of chocolate, and dark spices. On the palate, it is harmonious and supported by a smooth tannic structure that blends with well-integrated freshness and an elegant minerality that lingers in the long finish. Tignanello pairs well with cured meats and aged cheeses, as well as tasty dishes based on red meats and game.
