Corpo robustoRS di Radikon is the new blend of Merlot and Pignolo conceived by Saša, produced starting from , the first harvest entirely conducted without the supervision of father Stanko. The two grapes are present in the blend at 75% and 25% respectively. The company's 12 hectares of vineyard are cultivated in the hilly area of Oslavia, bordering Goriska Brda, on soils characterized by Flysch or “ponca” in Friulian: Eocene marls of limestone and sandstones, rocky and rich in mineral elements, which strongly characterize the wine. Few clusters per plant hand-picked only at optimal ripeness, these remain the premises. The grapes ferment spontaneously and macerate for a variable time between 8 and 14 days, then the wine matures in barrels (never new) of 25 or 35 hectoliters for at least 18 months. No clarifications or filtrations are carried out at bottling, and a "homeopathic" amount of sulfur dioxide is added. The wine waits another 2 months in the cellar before being released to the market.
RS di Radikon pours into the glass as a bright ruby red with purplish hues. On the nose, it has great character: wild berries, red and black fruits, undergrowth, faded flowers, a subtle spicy note with a hint of mountain coffee. In the mouth, it is fresh, enveloping, savory, with a dark and intriguing aromaticity. To taste and "listen to" alone, then pair, for example, with Carnia salami.
