Corpo medioRiesling Pètracine di Vajra is the fruit of the very first Riesling vineyards cultivated in Piedmont: Aldo Vaira planted this variety in 1985. The name is an old synonym of Riesling which emphasises its adaptability to very rocky soils. The vineyards are in Fossati, in the municipality of Barolo, and in Bricco Bertone, in the municipality of Sinio, at an altitude between 420 and 480 metres above sea level. The harvest begins in the first half of September; the grapes are gently pressed, cold-decanted and fermented in steel, where the wine then remains for refinement until the following spring.
The Riesling of the Langhe Pètracine di Vajra is bright straw yellow. The nose shows citrus notes, hints of mango and fresh ginger, then enriched with floral hints of jasmine and lavender and rocky mineral hints of flint. On the palate, it has citrine freshness and beautiful sapidity perfectly balanced by the aromatic softness of elderflower and candied citron peel. Delicious with fresh maltagliati with white asparagus and pancetta.
