The Primitivo Torcicoda by Tormaresca is produced from selected grapes grown in bush-trained (alberello) and spur-pruned cordon vineyards at the Tenuta Maìme estate in San Pietro Vernotico, south of Brindisi. The grapes are harvested slightly overripe and vinified at controlled temperatures; maceration extends beyond 10 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in French and Hungarian oak vats, where the wine then ages for approximately 10 months. This is followed by a further 8 months of bottle aging before release.

PRIMITIVO TORCICODA TORMARESCA: TASTING NOTES

The Primitivo Torcicoda by Tormaresca displays an intense ruby red color with light violet hues. On the nose it is opulent, offering aromas of black cherry and ripe blackberry, along with hints of vanilla, licorice, and coffee. On the palate it is rich, velvety, and long, with ripe fruit and toasted notes. It pairs well with structured meat dishes such as pigeon ragù or the traditional Apulian “marro,” a large roll of lamb and its offal.
