Currivu Rosso by Cantina Marilina is a blend of Nero d'Avola and Merlot. The grapes ripened in Noto, in the vineyards of Contrada San Lorenzo with calcareous soils, are harvested at two different times, the Merlot, a fairly early vine, in the late August, while the Nero d'Avola in mid-September. The vinification is carried out in concrete, where the wine is then aged for 8 months before entering the bottle and to wait another 3 months before being marketed.

CURRIVU ROSSO CANTINA MARILINA: TASTING

Cantina Marilina's Currivu Rosso is ruby red in the glass with some slight purple hues. On the nose, it is centred on ripe fruit, with notes of blackberry, red plum and some hints of red-orange, but there are also references to the island's aromatic herbs. The sip is fresh and savoury, with an extension on the green aromatic component. The combination with grilled duck breast is interesting, but excellent, in a more relaxed evening, with pizza or simply with focaccia and salami.
