The Montecucco Rosso Riserva Poggio Lombrone by Colle Massari is crafted from 100% Sangiovese grapes sourced from old estate vines rooted in clay-limestone soils rich in tuff, at an altitude of approximately 300 meters above sea level. After manual harvesting, with a yield of 60 quintals per hectare, the grapes were transported to the winery for vinification. Alcoholic fermentation, which converts sugars into alcohol, took place in open truncated-cone vats. Malolactic fermentation, which softens the aromatic and structural edges of the must, and an 18-month aging process occurred in 40-hectoliter oak barrels. Before release, the Montecucco Rosso Riserva Poggio Lombrone Colle Massari rested in the bottle for 12 months.

MONTECUCCO ROSSO RISERVA POGGIO LOMBRONE COLLE MASSARI: TASTING NOTES

In the glass, the Montecucco Rosso Riserva Poggio Lombrone Colle Massari presents a delicate ruby-red hue. On the nose, it reveals aromas of black cherry and ripe wild berries intertwined with balsamic hints of Mediterranean scrub and subtle notes of dark spices. The palate is round and elegant, enhanced by a velvety tannic structure and a refined fresh-savory balance. At the table, it pairs wonderfully with aged cheeses and elaborate meat dishes featuring red meats or game.
