Montepulciano from San Martino sulla Marrucina

Made from 100% Montepulciano, the wine comes from vineyards around San Martino sulla Marrucina in the province of Chieti, at roughly 400 metres above sea level. Masciarelli works with individual vineyard parcels, preserving their distinct qualities before bringing the wines together into the final Riserva.

Winemaking and maturation

Each parcel undergoes separate fermentation and maceration. The wines then spend 12–18 months in barriques before blending and a further minimum of six months in bottle. This approach brings depth and finely integrated tannins while retaining freshness and balance.

Tasting profile and food pairing

The wine has a concentrated ruby colour, with notes of red fruit, woodland undergrowth and spice. Full-bodied yet harmonious, it offers velvety tannins and a lingering finish. Serve at around 16–18°C with grilled meats, Abruzzo-style lamb skewers or slow-cooked beef dishes.
