Aroma fruttato
Corpo medioDonnafugata's Grillo SurSur comes from the vineyards of the Contessa Entellina estate and the hilly hinterland between Marsala and Salemi (districts of Baiata, Alfaraggio, Pioppo). Grillo is an ancient Sicilian native grape, but it is also a nice lucky animal. The name sur sur, which means cricket, derives from the classical Arabic language once also spoken in Sicily. The label represents spring, with its scents and colours. It tells about the escapes of Gabriella, a child (founder of Donnafugata together with her husband Giacomo) who runs barefoot among the flowers and fresh grass, following the song of crickets that to her ears sounds as sweet as a thousand "SurSur ... ". The grapes are harvested between the end of August and the beginning of September and vinified in steel at a controlled temperature; the wine then ages in the vat for about 2 months and a further 3 in the bottle.
Donna Fugata's Grillo SurSur has a bright straw yellow colour; offers a bouquet to the nose fresh with distinct notes of white pulp fruit, peach and cantaloupe melon first of all, combined with hints of wildflowers and mint. In the mouth, it is soft, with a return of fruity notes combined with a pleasant freshness and a slight flavour. Very good with sushi, as with a salad, or even with a simple toasted stracchino and new oil.
