Gewürztraminer Kastelaz di Elena Walch: THE WINE

The Gewürztraminer Kastelaz di Elena Walch is made from 100% Gewürztraminer grapes. The namesake vineyard, facing south, is organized in steep terraces overlooking the renowned wine town of Tramin (BZ): the characteristic soils consist of a light limestone layer with sandy veins and rocky layers of granite and porphyry, at an altitude of 330-380 meters above sea level. After hand harvesting, the grapes were transported to the cellar to undergo a short 6-hour maceration on the skins followed by gentle pressing. Alcoholic fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 18°C. Aging occurred for several months always in stainless steel tanks in contact with the lees.

The Gewürztraminer Kastelaz di Elena Walch presents itself with a straw yellow color with golden reflections. On the nose, it releases aromas of lychee and tropical yellow fruits meeting floral hints of rose and shy spicy notes and acacia honey. The taste is pleasant and enveloping, supported by a gentle freshness and an irresistible aromatic finish. It pairs well with blue cheeses as well as exquisite first and second courses based on white fish, mollusks, and shellfish.
